Lydia Huffman Hoyle is Associate Professor Emeritus of Church History at Campbell University Divinity School where she taught for 20 years. She is a native of North Carolina and received a B.S. in Special Education from Appalachian State University, a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in American Religious History. She began her career at Georgetown College in Kentucky where she enjoyed fourteen years teaching undergraduates. She has written numerous articles and book chapters focusing particularly on women in the Christian tradition. Throughout her life Lydia has sought to engage students and congregations in seeking to both learn history and learn from history. In her retirement, she continues to teach, preach, and lead retreats.
